Aimee and I went to the Leeds Illamasqua store on the 3td March as there was a demo of working on different skin colours. We first has a demo on white skin and this was followed by a demo on black skin. Both of these demos were fantastic as they’ve enabled me to broaden my skills in Media and Fashion makeup.

On Wednesday in college we had Mika from Illamasqua come in to give us a demonstration of Illamasqua products. He showed us a video that explains the history of the brand and what they’re all about (below).
This was a strong video that really helped me make my mind up about the company and who they are.
The demo began with Mika using 2 different Skin Base foundations on a highlighter brush to highlight and contour the face. I thought this was fantastic as I have not seen this done before and it really worked.

After the demo we were told tht if we went to the Leeds store on Friday, there would be more demo’s for students. We arrived and we’d missed it but the staff still gave us our own demo which I thought was really nice of them. I swatched loads of the products and I was very impressed by the pigmentation! I couldn’t afford to stock up which was sad but I plan to update my kit with their products. The Leeds store is having demo’s every first Sunday of the month at 10AM so I plan to go to them as of now.

On Wednesday I got offered the opportunity to work on a Fashion show in Leeds (Thank you Hanne Jackson!!). The show was yesterday. I got there and there was a team of 5 MUA’s including myself, 6 Hair stylists and so many rails of clothes (mostly Kooples and Morgan Clare). We did mostly natural makeup and I did some cosmetic camouflage which was nice because I haven’t done any in a while. We did touch ups and then we went to do extra touch ups backstage. I hadn’t realized how much work goes into a short fashion show!! There were so many creative people in one room and it was an amazing experience. I made a few contacts and hope to work with them soon – Will keep you all updated. After the show we were given free Champagne and a Clarins Gift Bag. Product Reviews soon.
Absolutely amazing experience, I would not re-consider my career and work in fashion as I love Special Effects too kmuch, however, It is something that has given me experience of the fashion industry and for that I’m very thankful, all in all, a fantastic day!
